Lavender and Sage

Both Lavender and Sage (Salvia) are heat and sun lovers. Give them a sunny spot, water them until they are established and then sit back and enjoy! Once established they need water about once a week in the warm months and no water at all when it is cool or rainy.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Lavandula dentata (French Lavender) is a medium size lavender and is easy to grow. Lavandula 'Goodwin Creek' has silver leaves and deep violet flowers. Lavandula stoechas (Spanish Lavender) is more compact. Lavandula angustifolia (English Lavender) is wispy and very fragrant.

Salvia 'Waverly' is loose and free blooming. Salvia 'Indigo Spires' is large and has brilliant purple blossoms. Salvia gregii is more compact and comes in many colors. Slavia mexicana 'Limelight' has lime bracts that hold bright purple blooms and is delightful!
